Q: When is the right time to consider hospice care?

A: If your loved one has an advanced illness with a limited life expectancy as determined by their physician, that is the time to explore hospice care services.

Q: What insurances are accepted at Nurses Plus Hospice?

A: The services are covered by Medicare/Medi-cal and most medical insurances.

Q: What hospice service is the best for my loved one?

A: Hospice care is not a one-size-fits-all solution. That being said, there are many variables to consider when determining the best care. Please send us a message, and we can help you discover the services you will need.

Q: How is hospice different from what my loved one’s doctors are doing?

A: Hospice care is a more focused approach on improving the livelihood of your loved one while their terminal illness progresses. While a doctor treats the illness, a hospice care provider manages the necessary medical treatment while supporting the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.

Q: What are the benefits of hospice care?

A: There are many benefits, some including pain management for the patient, constant support for the patient and the caregivers, and a trusted resource during this time.

Q: What services does NURSES PLUS HOSPICE provide?

A: Services we provide include Attending Physicians, Skilled Nurses, Hospice Aides, Social Workers, Bereavement Counselors, and Volunteers. Learn more about each service at the About page.

Q: How long can someone receive hospice care?

A: Typically those who enter hospice care have a life expectancy of 6 months. But we will continue hospice care for as long as needed for the patient.

Q: Is my hospice care provider the only doctor my loved one can see?

A: Your loved one will continue to see your primary care doctor if that is what they need.

Q: What is considered a terminal illness and eligible for hospice care?

A: An individual is deemed to have a terminal illness and be eligible for hospice care if a physician has determined the individual has a limited life expectancy.

Q: Does a doctor need to recommend hospice before we consider it as an option?

A: Not necessarily. A doctor may recommend it, but if you are looking to prepare for your loved one before your doctor makes a recommendation, you can absolutely explore hospice care as a next step.
